About The principal owner, David Krehbiel, started in special hazard system design in 1986. Originally, all of the systems were focused on Halon 1301, CO2, suppression system detection, explosion prevention controls, spark detection and suppression systems. Most the systems were in the Commonwealth of Virginia, surrounding states, with a few located internationally. Over the years, he worked with virtually any suppression system and varietal customers, including those in residential, commercial, construction, medical, military and government institutions. When Halon 1301 was first restricted around 1990, the focus shifted, and fire alarm was added to his repertoire. In the mid 1990’s he designed the largest Inergen clean agent system in Virginia. Two years later, he designed an even larger one, with over 300 cylinders and a complete fire alarm system with over 1000 field devices. He was one of the first 30 people in the United States to obtain NICET Level 4 in Special Hazards Systems in 2007 and he simultaneously obtained his NICET Level 4 in Fire Alarm Systems. In July 2017, David Krehbiel started EFS Design LLC, and added a second designer in 2019. Located in Virginia, EFS Design has designed systems in Virginia, Washington D.C., Maryland, North Carolina, Georgia and Bermuda. EFS Design is currently the exclusive designer for seven clients and part time designer for seven others aiding with project overload. EFS Design, LLC is familiar with Ansul, Kidde Fire Systems, Gamewell-FCI, Notifier, Firelite, Silent Knight, Vesda, Janus, Minimax, TFX Autocall, Fenwal, System Sensor, and others.
